Frequently asked questions
What is a good SHSAT score?
Cutoffs move each year with the applicant pool, but roughly 480+ is competitive for Brooklyn Latin or Brooklyn Tech, 515+ for Bronx Science and Staten Island Tech, and 555+ for Stuyvesant.
Is the SHSAT raw-to-scale conversion published in advance?
No. The DOE releases the conversion only after the exam and it changes annually, so any calculator gives an estimate rather than an exact score.
Is there a penalty for guessing?
No. There is no deduction for wrong answers, so answer every question.
