Quick answer

Video file size is bitrate × duration; at 4K 100 Mbps, one minute consumes about 750 MB.

Size (MB) = bitrate (Mbps) × seconds ÷ 8

How to use the Video File Size Calculator

  1. 1Enter your recording bitrate.
  2. 2Enter the duration in minutes.

Frequently asked questions

What bitrate should I record at?

1080p30 looks good at 8–12 Mbps for delivery; 4K editing masters usually run 50–100 Mbps or higher.

Does resolution alone determine size?

No — bitrate does. A low-bitrate 4K file can be smaller than a high-bitrate 1080p file, but it will look worse.
