Frequently asked questions

Are both dates included?

The day count is exclusive of the start date; working days are counted inclusively so a Monday-to-Friday week shows 5.

Why don't months divide evenly?

Months are 28–31 days long, so calendar months are counted by the calendar, not by dividing days by 30.

What do I need to enter into the Date Difference Calculator?

Just 2 values: start date, end date. Every field starts with a realistic example, so you can change one number at a time and watch the result update instantly.

How does the Date Difference Calculator work out the answer?

Subtract the earlier date from the later one; the difference in milliseconds divided by 86,400,000 gives whole days. The working is shown step by step so you can verify the result by hand.

Is the Date Difference Calculator free, and do I need an account?

It is completely free with no sign-up, no download and no usage limit. Everything is calculated in your browser, so the numbers you type never leave your device.
