Quick answer
Type effectiveness multiplies damage by 2× for a super-effective type, 0.5× for a resisted type and 0× for an immunity. On a dual-type Pokémon the two multipliers stack, producing 4× and 0.25× matchups.
damage multiplier = effectiveness vs type 1 × effectiveness vs type 2

Frequently asked questions
How do dual types work in Pokémon?
Multiply the two effectiveness values together. Ground is 2× against Fire and 2× against Steel, so it hits a Fire/Steel type for 4× damage.
Which type has the fewest weaknesses?
Steel resists the most types, and Normal has just one weakness (Fighting). Dual types like Steel/Flying historically have very few weaknesses.
Is this chart current?
Yes, it uses the Generation 6+ chart including the Fairy type and the reduced Steel resistances.
What do I need to enter into the Pokémon Type Calculator?
Just 3 values: defending type 1, defending type 2 (optional), attacking move type (optional). Every field starts with a realistic example, so you can change one number at a time and watch the result update instantly.
